According to the National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City, the advisory affects much of eastern North Carolina, including Carteret, Dare, and Craven counties. Highs near 91°F Friday combine with high humidity, creating oppressive conditions. Officials urge residents to stay indoors, drink plenty of fluids, and check on elderly neighbors.
