According to the National Weather Service, isolated showers are possible after 2 p.m. Sunday, followed by scattered thunderstorms into the evening. The heat index may spike to 104°F, with actual highs near 96°F. Winds will gust from the southwest at 10 to 16 mph, raising the risk of downed limbs and slick spots, especially along US-17 and I-140.

Wilmington, Belville, and Leland should prepare for short-term power outages and brief urban flooding during storm bursts. Outdoor events and beach trips may be disrupted, so residents are urged to monitor radar apps and reschedule non-essential plans. Stay indoors during the hottest hours and hydrate frequently.
