Raleigh, NC – North Carolina is under weather advisories as gusty winds and frost warnings spread across the state today. Eastern areas are bracing for strong winds, while western regions face freezing temperatures that could harm sensitive vegetation.

A surface trough is causing winds of 20 to 25 mph inland and up to 35 mph along the coast, with temperatures staying well below normal. The National Weather Service has issued small craft advisories for the Outer Banks and surrounding waters, cautioning boaters to expect rough conditions throughout the day.

Meanwhile, a frost advisory has been put in place for much of the western Piedmont and Triangle areas. Overnight temperatures are expected to fall to between 34 and 37 degrees, with frost likely between 2 a.m. and 10 a.m. Thursday. Residents are advised to cover or bring in sensitive plants to prevent frost damage.

With both wind and frost impacting different regions, North Carolinians are urged to take precautions for safety and protection of property, whether on the water or at home.
