Wilmington, NC – Residents along the North Carolina coast should prepare for coastal flooding today as the National Weather Service issued a Coastal Flood Advisory from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday. The alert covers Inland New Hanover County, including downtown Wilmington, where rising tides and onshore winds could cause minor flooding near the Cape Fear River and low-lying streets such as Market Street and Battleship Road.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, up to half a foot of inundation is possible during peak tide. Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads and give themselves extra time for travel. “Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth,” forecasters warned.

After today’s brief coastal impacts, a stretch of sunny, fall-like weather is expected through the rest of the week. Highs will climb into the low to mid-70s, with crisp mornings near 50°F by Thursday and Friday.

Looking ahead, Wednesday and Thursday bring ideal weather for fall events, including pumpkin patch visits and outdoor decorating. Skies will stay clear, with light winds and no rain in sight through the weekend.

Five-Day Forecast (Wilmington, NC):

  • Monday: Showers early, high 70°F. Coastal flooding risk.
  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny, high 73°F.
  • Wednesday: Sunny, high 76°F.
  • Thursday: Clear and mild, high 70°F.
  • Friday: Sunny, crisp morning lows near 48°F.
