WILMINGTON, N.C. – A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for the Wilmington area through 11 a.m. Monday, as high tides and onshore winds raise water levels along the lower Cape Fear River and nearby beaches. Minor flooding of low-lying coastal roads and docks is possible during high tide early Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, northeast winds of up to 17 mph are expected to continue overnight before calming by Monday afternoon. Skies will stay mostly clear with temperatures near 65°F at dawn, warming to the low 80s through midweek.

By Wednesday afternoon, isolated thunderstorms and heavier showers could return to southeastern North Carolina as humidity climbs and a weak front approaches from the west. The most widespread rain is expected Wednesday night into Thursday morning, bringing a 60% chance of showers and a slight risk of lightning.

Drivers should watch for standing water on coastal routes during high tide and secure outdoor items ahead of midweek storms.

Conditions improve late Thursday into the weekend, with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-70s. Additional advisories could be issued if coastal flooding persists.
