Raleigh, NC – North Carolina residents can expect a mix of weather conditions heading into the weekend, with seasonable temperatures prevailing across the state. Daytime highs will range from the mid-80s to upper 80s, while nighttime lows will dip into the mid-60s, offering a respite from summer heat.

However, those near the coast should remain vigilant. Hurricane Ernesto, currently located over 700 miles away, is projected to pass well to the east of the state. Despite this distance, the storm will generate large and powerful swells, bringing dangerous rip currents and hazardous surf conditions to North Carolina beaches throughout the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City, these conditions are expected to persist due to higher-than-normal tides, significantly increasing the risk of rip currents. Beachgoers are advised to exercise caution, avoid swimming in rough waters, and heed local warnings.

Meanwhile, inland areas will experience typical August weather, with a small chance for showers on Sunday and Monday. The NWS in Raleigh forecasts a partly sunny weekend, with rain chances increasing slightly as the week progresses. The cooler start to next week will bring some relief, with temperatures dipping into the low 80s by mid-week.
