Wilmington, NC – North and South Carolina are experiencing one of their warmest early February periods on record. Several cities, including Wilmington, Florence, and North Myrtle Beach, have recorded multiple days at or above 65°F.

According to the National Weather Service Wilmington, observed temperatures and forecasts through Sunday suggest that 2025 could set records. Wilmington, NC, and Florence, SC, are expected to reach eight warm days, matching past highs. Lumberton, NC, could see six days, while North Myrtle Beach, SC, may record six days as well.

Typically, early February remains cooler, but this year’s warmth rivals historic records from 1990, 2008, and 1927. The warmer conditions are a stark contrast to the cold January experienced across the region.

Officials recommend staying updated on weather changes, as unseasonable warmth can impact early blooming plants and local ecosystems. Residents should also prepare for potential temperature swings later in the month.
