Huntsville, Alabama — North Alabama will experience a cool and cloudy midweek period followed by a noticeable warming trend heading into the weekend and early next week, according to the National Weather Service in Huntsville.

Wednesday will remain cloudy and cool, with afternoon high temperatures ranging from 40 to 48 degrees across the Tennessee Valley. Cooler conditions will persist into Thursday, when highs dip slightly into the mid to upper 40s, and overnight lows fall into the upper teens to mid-20s, producing a chilly start for morning commuters.

However, conditions begin to change rapidly on Friday, as sunshine returns and temperatures climb sharply. Highs are expected to reach 52 to 60 degrees, marking a warming trend of nearly 20 degrees in just 48 hours. By Saturday, highs will remain mild in the upper 40s to mid-50s, with continued dry conditions.

The warmest day of the period is expected to be Sunday, when temperatures climb into the mid-50s to low 60s, signaling a return to above-normal February warmth. Overnight lows will also moderate, reducing the risk of frost by the weekend.

For motorists traveling along Interstate 565, US Highway 72, and surrounding county roads, the primary concern will be cold mornings midweek, followed by large day-to-night temperature swings that may produce patchy frost in sheltered areas early Thursday morning. No significant rain is expected through at least early next week, keeping road conditions dry.

Residents are encouraged to dress in layers and remain mindful of the rapid temperature changes. With little to no rain in the forecast, the warming trend should hold into early next week.
