Huntsville, AL – A mild and increasingly warm weather pattern will take hold across north Alabama and the Tennessee Valley this week, setting the stage for a well-above-normal Christmas, according to the National Weather Service in Huntsville.
Forecasters say low chances of showers (10–30%) will persist at times through Tuesday, mainly during the daytime hours. Rain coverage is expected to be spotty and light, with no severe weather concerns at this time.
By Wednesday, dry weather is forecast to settle in as temperatures continue to climb. Highs will rise well above seasonal norms, reaching the mid to upper 60s by Christmas Eve and pushing into the upper 60s to low 70s on Christmas Day. Normal highs for late December in north Alabama are typically in the upper 40s to low 50s.
According to the forecast, Christmas Eve highs are expected to range from 64 to 72 degrees, with Christmas Day highs climbing to 65 to 73 degrees across the region. Overnight lows will also remain mild, staying mostly in the upper 40s to upper 50s, limiting any cold-weather impacts.
The warm pattern is expected to continue through late week, benefiting holiday travel and outdoor plans across Madison County, Limestone County, Morgan County, and surrounding parts of north Alabama and southern middle Tennessee.
Meteorologists note that while the warmth will feel more like early spring than winter, colder conditions can still return later in the season.
