Huntsville, Ala. – Drivers around Huntsville could see slick roads and scattered showers Friday morning, as a band of thunderstorms rolls through the region before 10 a.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, there’s a 20 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms through midmorning. Winds will shift from the southwest to northwest by afternoon, gusting up to 20 mph at times. Most rain totals are expected to stay below a tenth of an inch unless a thunderstorm develops.
While most of the day will turn partly sunny with a high near 76°F, brief delays could affect commutes near U.S. 72 and I-565 during the early hours. Winds may make for a breezy lunch break, especially in higher elevation areas like Monte Sano.
Friday night will bring clearing skies and cooler temps, with lows dropping to around 57°F. Winds will calm after sunset but could still gust near 15 mph early in the evening.
No alerts are currently posted, but Saturday looks clear and warm. A new round of rain returns Sunday evening into next week — and that could mean more storms for northern Alabama.
