Huntsville, AL – The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a Freeze Watch for all of northern Alabama, warning residents of subfreezing temperatures and bitter wind chills beginning Sunday evening through Monday morning.

According to meteorologists, overnight lows will drop into the 25–30°F range, with wind chills falling into the mid-to-upper teens early Monday. The alert includes all counties in northern Alabama, including Madison, Limestone, Morgan, Marshall, Cullman, and Jackson.

While elevated winds will limit frost accumulation, forecasters caution that the cold will be enough to kill sensitive plants, end the growing season, and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are urged to cover tender vegetation, drip faucets, and provide shelter for pets ahead of the freeze.

The approaching cold front will bring the coldest temperatures of the season so far, as winter-like air settles across the Tennessee Valley to start the week.
