NORMAN, Okla. – Much of Oklahoma will wake up to its coldest temperatures of the season as a Freeze Watch goes into effect Sunday evening and lasts through Monday morning. The National Weather Service in Norman warns that overnight lows will fall into the lower 20s across northern Oklahoma, with upper 20s expected farther south.

According to the National Weather Service, the watch includes nearly 60 counties stretching from Harper and Woods to Bryan and McCurtain, covering major cities such as Oklahoma City, Norman, Lawton, Ardmore, and Enid. Residents are urged to protect tender plants, outdoor plumbing, and pets as prolonged freezing could damage vegetation and unprotected pipes.

Rural areas across western and northern Oklahoma could experience even colder pockets, where frost may form before sunrise Monday. Agricultural producers are encouraged to cover crops and disconnect irrigation hoses ahead of the freeze.

Drivers may also face patchy frost early Monday, especially on bridges and rural highways, as calm winds and clear skies allow temperatures to drop quickly overnight.

The Freeze Watch remains in effect through Monday morning, with additional cold nights possible early next week as dry air lingers statewide.
