Norman, OK – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help following a fatal hit-and-run collision early Sunday morning south of Norman.

According to investigators, around 7:30 a.m. on January 11, troopers responded to a crash on 192nd Avenue SE near Alameda Street. A black Chevrolet Silverado, being towed southbound by another vehicle using only a chain, reportedly detached and crossed the centerline, striking another vehicle head-on. The driver of the second vehicle was killed in the collision.

Troopers say the Silverado was abandoned at the scene without a license plate. The driver of the towing vehicle and any occupants fled before authorities arrived. While investigators are working to trace the truck’s VIN, they’re urging anyone who saw the Silverado being towed or witnessed the crash to come forward.

The crash occurred not far from Lake Thunderbird State Park, in a wooded area east of Norman. Investigators released photos of the Silverado, which appeared severely damaged on its front end, and a map marking the crash site.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or towing driver is asked to contact the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit at (405) 425-2323. Even small details could help bring answers and accountability in this tragic case.
