Normal, IL – An armed individual was taken into custody Thursday morning on E. Phoenix Ave. in Normal after officers from the Normal Police Department responded to reports of a subject with a knife.
According to the Normal Police Department, officers arrived on the scene at approximately 11:10 a.m., establishing a perimeter and communicating with the individual. By 11:19 a.m., the subject was apprehended and transported by Normal Fire Department personnel for a mental health evaluation. Assistance was provided by the Illinois State University Police and the McLean County Sheriff’s Department.
