Quincy, MA – Families across Norfolk County can help neighbors stay warm this winter as the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office hosts a countywide winter coat drive running through Wednesday.

According to the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office, the annual drive is being held in partnership with Coats for Kids & Families to collect new or gently used winter coats for residents who may not have access to cold-weather gear as winter conditions intensify.

Donations are being accepted Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., now through Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at two public drop-off locations:

  • Norfolk County Sheriff’s Quincy Civil Process Office, 1255 Hancock Street, Quincy
  • Norfolk County Sheriff’s Braintree Public Safety Complex, 2015 Washington Street, Braintree

Officials say coats of all sizes are welcome, but there is a particular need for children’s coats, especially sizes XL and infant/pre-K, as families prepare for sustained winter cold.

All donated coats will be professionally cleaned by Anton’s Cleaners before being distributed to local nonprofits, social service agencies, and schools throughout Norfolk County and surrounding communities.

Sheriff Patrick McDermott encouraged residents who are able to donate to consider participating, noting that even one coat can make a meaningful difference for a family facing winter without proper protection.

Residents are encouraged to donate items that are clean and in wearable condition. Community members who live or work near Quincy, Braintree, or the greater Boston metro area are urged to spread the word as the January 7 deadline approaches.
