Sharon, MA – An alleged contractor scam targeting an elderly woman in Sharon earlier this week has now led to an arrest following a multi-agency investigation spanning several Massachusetts communities.

Sharon Police said the case began Tuesday, December 2, 2025, when an elderly resident reported that a man going door to door offered to repave her driveway. The individual allegedly collected $4,000 in cash and never returned to perform the work.

According to Sharon Police, Detective Pasco launched an investigation and soon discovered that the same individual was being sought by departments across the state for nearly identical scams. Police identified the suspect as William “Bill” Pusateri of Dedham, who reportedly had 11 active warrants at the time. Investigators said Pusateri used business names including Priority 1 Paving out of Dedham and Best Price Paving in the Sharon area. Additional alleged victims are still being identified.

On Thursday, December 4, 2025, Detective Pasco located the suspect inside a motel room in Sharon. With assistance from patrol officers, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Police said Pusateri was transported to Stoughton District Court, where he was arraigned on charges related to the Sharon incident, including Larceny Over $250 from a Person Over 60/Disabled, as well as Common and Notorious Thief. He will also answer to the 11 outstanding warrants tied to other investigations.

Authorities are urging residents—especially seniors—to verify contractor licenses and avoid paying large sums upfront to door-to-door solicitors.
