Sacramento, CA – The National Weather Service in Sacramento is forecasting widespread rainfall across Northern California beginning Friday, October 24, through Monday, October 27, as a new Pacific storm system moves into the region.
According to the NWS, the incoming front will bring cooler daytime temperatures, breezy to gusty winds, and steady rain, especially across the northern Sacramento Valley and coastal ranges. The heaviest rainfall probabilities—up to 95% near Eureka and 88% near Hayfork—are expected in far northern California, while areas farther south, including Sacramento and Stockton, show a 20–40% chance of an inch or more.
Forecasters note that the timing and exact rainfall totals remain uncertain, but the system is expected to bring beneficial moisture after a dry start to fall. Cooler highs and occasional wind gusts could impact travel and outdoor plans this weekend.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts and use trusted weather sources, as conditions may shift with later storm updates. The National Weather Service will continue to issue advisories as the system approaches.
“Recent forecast trends are shifting heavier rain totals farther north, but beneficial rain is still in the forecast,” NWS Sacramento said Tuesday morning in a social media update.
