Muncie, IN – Police have confirmed that Ball State University faces no ongoing threat following a shooting investigation near campus early Saturday. The incident took place in the 900 block of West Carson Street, just off campus grounds.

According to Ball State University Police, both the Muncie Police Department (MPD) and University Police Department (UPD) responded to the scene. Authorities initially warned the public to avoid the area while officers conducted their investigation.

The campus police department provided updates through social media, reassuring students and staff of their safety. The department lifted warnings roughly two hours after the initial report, advising the community to resume normal activities.

Police have not disclosed details about potential suspects or victims involved in the incident. MPD continues to investigate the case with UPD’s support, urging anyone with information to come forward.

Ball State officials encouraged students to stay vigilant but emphasized that campus life could proceed as usual.
