Royalton, NY – A two-vehicle crash at a rural intersection Tuesday left one driver injured and airlifted.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 12:11 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the intersection of Hartland Road and Slayton Settlement Road in the Town of Royalton.
Officials said multiple 911 calls reported a motor vehicle accident with a possible ejection. Responding deputies confirmed the driver of a passenger vehicle had been partially ejected from the car.
Investigators determined that a 2014 Kia Sedona, traveling eastbound on Slayton Settlement Road, allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way at the intersection and collided with a 2020 Peterbilt dump truck traveling northbound on Hartland Road.
Emergency crews, including EMS and fire/rescue personnel, arrived shortly after and began patient care at the scene. The female driver of the Kia was airlifted by Mercy Flight of Western New York to Erie County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said vehicle and traffic charges are pending as the investigation continues.
The crash may impact local commuters and student drivers who frequently travel rural intersections in the area.
