Pendleton, NY – New details were released Wednesday regarding the injury crash that occurred at the intersection of Mapleton and Townline Roads in Pendleton on Monday afternoon. The updated information identifies the adult parties involved and confirms that both the driver and a teenage pedestrian are still recovering at Erie County Medical Center (ECMC).

According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 3:09 p.m. on December 4, 2025, when a 2024 Hyundai struck a 16-year-old pedestrian. Deputies say the pedestrian will not be publicly identified due to his age.

The driver of the Hyundai has been identified as 42-year-old Jonathan R. Armstrong of West Amherst. Sheriff officials said Armstrong also suffered injuries in the crash and was transported to ECMC for treatment.

Deputies further confirmed that a 2023 Ford F-450 ambulance, which arrived at the scene, was operated by 35-year-old Ariana M. Cozzolino of Lockport, with 27-year-old Jacob M. Meagher of Lewiston riding as a passenger. They were not reported as injured.

Investigators have not released additional details on what may have led to the collision, including whether speed, visibility, or roadway conditions played a factor. The intersection serves as a common commuter route in Niagara County, connecting residential neighborhoods with access points toward Lockport and Tonawanda.

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Accident Investigation Unit is continuing its review of the crash, and further updates will be released as appropriate.
