Lockport, NY – Sheriff Michael Filicetti announced the arrest of 22-year-old Manuel Gerson Castro-Cabrera following a late-night investigation into a domestic disturbance in the Town of Wheatfield. The incident occurred around 11:55 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2025, on Niagara Road.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, the Criminal Investigation Bureau led the investigation, which resulted in Castro-Cabrera being charged with several offenses, including one count of Assault in the 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd degree.

Castro-Cabrera, a native of El Salvador, was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Niagara County Correctional Facility on the listed charges. In addition, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security placed an immigration detainer on Castro-Cabrera through U.S. Border Patrol for reportedly being in the country unlawfully.

The Sheriff’s Office noted that deputies from the Criminal Investigation Bureau and patrol units from the Town of Niagara Police and New York State Police assisted during the response. Bergholz Fire Company and Tri-Community Ambulance also provided support at the scene.
