According to the Keener Township Volunteer Fire Department, crews were dispatched at 9:19 a.m. and arrived to find the home already consumed by fire. Due to intense heat and heavy smoke, firefighters were forced to take a defensive approach, preventing them from entering the structure. Keener Township firefighters were joined by personnel from Wheatfield Fire, Lincoln Township Fire, Lake Township Fire, and Keener EMS. Hebron Fire remained on standby to handle other emergency calls in the area. Crews stayed on scene for nearly three hours, working to extinguish remaining hot spots and ensure the fire was fully under control.
Two people were home at the time of the fire and were able to evacuate safely before the structure was lost. No injuries were reported.
