NEW BERN, North Carolina – Beachgoers across Eastern North Carolina will see a mix of sunshine and isolated rain showers this weekend as a weak cold front moves through the region. High temperatures will remain warm, reaching into the mid-80s inland, while coastal areas and the Outer Banks will see highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
According to the US National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC, the cold front will bring a slight chance for scattered showers, particularly during the afternoon. The main concern for beach visitors will be the risk of dangerous rip currents along all beaches. Swimmers are urged to check local flags and advisories before entering the water.
While the majority of the weekend will be pleasant, the passing showers could briefly impact outdoor plans. These rain chances are described as “far and few in between,” meaning extended periods of rain are not anticipated. The main threat remains the elevated rip current risk, which could make swimming hazardous for inexperienced swimmers.
Conditions are expected to be partly cloudy with temperatures remaining mild through the night, dropping into the low 70s. The scattered showers and rip current risk are the primary weather concerns through the weekend.
