Newington, New Hampshire –Residents and visitors in Newington may notice an increased law enforcement presence this week as New Hampshire State Police conduct scheduled training exercises at the former Fox Run Mall.
According to New Hampshire State Police, members of the agency are using the vacant mall property in Newington for training exercises on Tuesday, Feb. 10, and Wednesday, Feb. 11, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day.
Officials said the exercises are simulations only and there is no cause for concern for the public. Signage indicating active training has been deployed at the site to alert nearby residents, businesses, and visitors.
State police said the training scenarios are designed to provide realistic environments for officers but are closed to the public and media. No additional details about the specific nature of the exercises were released.
Authorities emphasized that while police vehicles, personnel, and activity may be visible around the former mall property, the presence is part of a planned training operation and not related to any emergency or active incident.
The former Fox Run Mall has been used periodically for law enforcement training due to its size and vacant status, allowing officers to safely conduct exercises without disrupting occupied commercial areas.
Residents traveling near the site may experience minor disruptions or increased activity during training hours. Officials advised the public to follow posted signage and avoid the immediate area if possible during the exercises.
New Hampshire State Police said no further action is required from the public, and normal operations will resume following the conclusion of the training.
