Newark, DE – Delaware State Police are investigating the death of a 30-year-old Wilmington man whose body was discovered Saturday morning in a retention pond at the entrance to Christiana Hospital.
According to the Delaware State Police, troopers responded to Christiana Hospital, located at 4755 Ogletown Stanton Road in Newark, at approximately 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2026, after receiving a report of a deceased person found in the pond.
When troopers arrived, they located the man in shallow water near the edge of the retention pond. Due to what authorities described as the suspicious nature of the incident, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation.
Officials said the victim was transported to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death. The man’s identity has not been publicly released pending notification of family.
Investigators have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the death or whether foul play is suspected. The investigation remains active.
