Binghamton, NY – A winter storm watch has been issued for parts of New York and Pennsylvania from Sunday morning to late Sunday night. Forecasters predict heavy snowfall ranging from 5 to 9 inches across affected regions.

According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin early Sunday morning, impacting cities such as Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and Monticello. Conditions are expected to worsen throughout the day, creating hazardous travel.

Counties under the watch include Sullivan in New York, and Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Wayne in Pennsylvania. Delaware County and surrounding areas could also experience significant snow accumulation.

Travel could become difficult, especially on untreated roads. Officials urge residents to plan for delays and monitor updated forecasts. Emergency preparedness actions, such as stocking winter supplies and reviewing travel plans, are recommended.

The storm will likely taper off by early Monday, but lingering effects, including icy roads, could continue to disrupt commutes.
