Buffalo, NY – Residents should prepare for snow and rain overnight as a winter system moves through the region starting tonight. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, forecasting 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulation by Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, the system will bring light snow before 3 a.m., transitioning to a mix of rain and snow. Low temperatures will hover around 31°F tonight, with gusty southwest winds up to 15 mph making conditions colder. Commuters should anticipate slick roads and reduced visibility during Tuesday’s morning rush hour, especially along major routes like I-190 and Route 33.

Tuesday’s forecast calls for scattered snow showers in the afternoon, with total additional accumulation under an inch. Temperatures will rise to a high of 35°F, but northeast winds may keep the wind chill lower. The snow is expected to taper off by Tuesday evening, clearing the way for drier conditions heading into Christmas Day.

Looking ahead, Christmas will bring mostly cloudy skies with highs near 33°F. A warming trend begins Thursday, with sunshine and highs in the upper 30s by Friday, offering a reprieve from the wintry start to the week.

Residents are advised to plan extra travel time for Tuesday morning and stay updated on road conditions through 511 NY. For those celebrating Christmas, the forecast appears favorable for travel with no significant weather disruptions expected.
