Albany, NY – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for portions of eastern New York, western Massachusetts, northwestern Connecticut, and southern Vermontfrom early Thursday morning through the evening as a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Albany, snow will begin early Thursday before transitioning to a mix of sleet and freezing rain by the afternoon. Snow accumulations of 1 to 5 inches are expected across the affected areas, with ice accumulations reaching up to one-tenth of an inch in some locations.

The advisory covers cities including Albany, Schenectady, Poughkeepsie, Pittsfield, Torrington, and Bennington, among others. Hazardous conditions could impact both the morning and evening commutes, making travel difficult.
