Buffalo, NY – A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Western New York, including Buffalo, Rochester, and surrounding areas, from 7 p.m. Monday until 9 a.m. Tuesday. Snow, combined with high winds, is expected to create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, areas including Niagara, Orleans, and Northern Erie Counties could see 2 to 4 inches of snow with wind gusts up to 65 mph, resulting in significant blowing snow and visibility issues. Monroe, Livingston, and Allegany Counties may experience 1 to 3 inches of snow, while Southern Erie, Chautauqua, and Wyoming Counties could receive up to 6 inches.

Residents should prepare for slippery roads and potential power outages caused by strong winds and tree damage. The hazardous conditions are likely to impact the Tuesday morning commute.

Drivers are advised to slow down and use caution, particularly in areas with blowing snow. The National Weather Service encourages residents to submit snowfall reports via its website or social media.

Periods of heavy snow and gusty winds may continue overnight, with improving conditions expected after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
