Boonville, NY – A lake effect snow warning remains in effect for Northern Oneida County from 7 a.m. Friday through 10 a.m. Saturday, with heavy snow and strong winds expected to create hazardous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, snowfall could total between 4 and 10 inches, with the heaviest accumulation in central and western parts of the county. Winds may gust up to 40 mph, causing blowing snow and significantly reducing visibility.

Travel will be dangerous throughout the warning period, particularly during the Friday morning and evening commutes. Snow-covered roads and slick conditions could lead to accidents, and strong winds may cause isolated power outages due to falling trees or branches.

Residents are advised to limit travel and carry emergency supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water, if driving is necessary.
