Utica, NY – Oneida County is under a winter storm warning until 7 p.m. Sunday, with heavy snow, ice, and strong winds expected. A winter storm watch will follow from late Sunday night through Wednesday morning, bringing more snowfall and hazardous conditions across Northern and Southern Oneida counties, including Utica, Rome, and Boonville.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, up to 6 inches of snow and sleet, along with ice accumulations up to one-third of an inch, are expected by Sunday evening. Winds could gust up to 40 mph, causing scattered power outages and tree damage. After Sunday night, lake effect snow could add another 10 to 17 inches, with wind gusts reaching 55 mph.
Travel may become nearly impossible, especially during Monday’s commutes, with visibility dropping below a quarter-mile due to blowing snow. Residents are advised to keep emergency supplies, including flashlights, food, and water, in vehicles. For road conditions, call 511.
