Binghamton, NY – A winter storm is set to impact central New York and northeastern Pennsylvania this week, bringing snow, freezing drizzle, and travel hazards.
According to the National Weather Service, snow will move in late Sunday, with accumulations of 1 to 4 inches expected overnight. Roads could become slick by Monday morning, especially on highways like I-81 and Route 17. Drivers should prepare for reduced visibility and icy conditions.
Monday will bring milder temperatures, reaching a high of 46°F, with showers tapering off by the afternoon. However, colder air returns midweek, with another round of snow possible Wednesday night into Thursday. A wintry mix is expected Thursday, with freezing rain transitioning to rain as temperatures climb to 43°F.
The National Weather Service advises commuters to allow extra travel time and monitor updates for potential warnings. Snow-covered roads and icy patches could make for dangerous driving conditions through midweek.
Residents should prepare for fluctuating temperatures and mixed precipitation over the next five days as winter continues its grip on the region.
