NEW YORK – A stretch of sunshine and warming temperatures will carry New Yorkers into early next week, with highs climbing into the upper 70s and even low 80s in some spots by Sunday. The National Weather Service says dry conditions will dominate, keeping skies clear and fall feeling more like late summer.

According to the National Weather Service office in Upton, the warmup begins Friday with highs between 69 and 73 degrees, before steadily increasing through the weekend. Saturday will bring highs in the mid-70s to low 80s, followed by the warmest day Sunday when parts of the metro could reach 84.

The pleasant stretch will benefit outdoor plans across New York City, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley, with dry roads and calm conditions for travel. Overnight lows will hover mostly in the upper 40s to low 60s, keeping mornings cool but comfortable.

By Monday and Tuesday, highs will remain near 80 with just a few clouds developing. The weather service notes that this warming trend will keep conditions above average for early October.

More updates may follow next week if cooler air returns mid-month, but for now, New York stays sunny and warm through Tuesday.
