Buffalo, NY – A stretch of unseasonably warm fall weather will keep western New York basking in sunshine through the weekend before a round of showers breaks the streak early next week. Highs will climb well into the 70s and even touch the low 80s Sunday and Monday, a reminder of late summer despite October’s arrival.

According to the National Weather Service office in Buffalo, sunny skies dominate through Monday with mostly clear nights and lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Southwest winds will stay light but noticeable, with occasional gusts along Lake Erie. Roads across Erie and Niagara counties will remain dry through the weekend, making for smooth travel on I-90, I-190, and other major corridors.

Clouds increase late Monday night, followed by a better chance of rain Tuesday into Wednesday. The weather service places the chance of showers Tuesday at 80 percent, with periods of heavier rainfall possible during the morning commute. Drivers should be prepared for slower travel on I-86 and I-390 as ponding could develop in low-lying areas.

Temperatures will cool after the rain, with highs falling back to the 60s midweek. While no frost or freeze concerns are expected, gardeners should still monitor conditions late week. Residents are advised to take advantage of the dry, warm stretch to wrap up outdoor chores, charge devices before the unsettled weather, and allow extra time for travel early Tuesday.
