Buffalo, N.Y. – Light rain dampened the Niagara Frontier and Finger Lakes early Wednesday and will continue to drift eastward, bringing wet conditions to the Lake Ontario shoreline by mid-afternoon before tapering off completely.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, measurable precipitation is most likely from Buffalo to Syracuse through 1 p.m., especially along the Thruway corridor and Lake Ontario’s southeastern edge. Rain chances fall sharply by evening, clearing most of Central and Western New York.
Cities including Rochester, Geneva, and Ithaca saw scattered morning showers with slick roads possible during the morning commute. In Oswego and Watertown, residents should expect on-and-off rainfall through early afternoon.
Despite the rain, high temperatures will climb into the mid-60s inland and the low-to-mid 70s along the Lake Plains, offering a mild reprieve from recent cool conditions. Drivers are advised to allow extra time this morning and to use headlights during reduced visibility periods.
The rain is expected to clear out entirely by late Wednesday, with dry, warmer conditions returning Thursday across the region. No additional weather alerts are in place at this time.
