Buffalo, NY – Severe weather is expected to impact Western New York today, with the National Weather Service (NWS) issuing a Marginal Risk warning for isolated severe thunderstorms and excessive rainfall. The threat begins this afternoon and extends into the evening, with damaging wind gusts and flash flooding being the primary concerns.
According to the NWS, the greatest risk for severe thunderstorms is anticipated in areas across Western New York, including Buffalo, Rochester, and Jamestown. Residents are advised to seek shelter indoors if they hear thunder and to avoid driving through flooded roadways. Boaters should also take precautions, as storm conditions could develop rapidly.
The weather will remain unsettled throughout the weekend, with a 75% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Sunday, tapering off slightly into Monday with a 60% chance of rain. Highs will be in the upper 60s to low 70s during the early part of the week. By Tuesday, drier conditions are expected to return, with highs in the mid-60s and sunshine forecasted for the rest of the week. However, cooler temperatures are expected, with nighttime lows dipping into the mid-50s.
