Buffalo, N.Y. – After weeks of oppressive humidity, Western New York residents can finally expect some relief heading into the Fourth of July holiday.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, a cold front moving through Wednesday night will push out muggy air and usher in tolerable summer conditions through Thursday and Friday. Dew points—currently hovering in the upper 60s to low 70s—will fall into the comfortable 50s by Thursday morning across cities like Rochester, Batavia, and Jamestown.

Brief showers or thunderstorms may develop late Wednesday evening into early Thursday, but skies are expected to clear by Independence Day. Buffalo and surrounding areas will enjoy dry air and sunshine, ideal for outdoor gatherings and fireworks displays.

Specific hourly readings show dew points dropping steadily from 62°F Wednesday in places like Dunkirk and Medina to a crisp 54°F by Friday night. Road conditions and public events will benefit from the improved air quality.

However, residents should prepare for rising humidity again starting Saturday. Moisture will return gradually, potentially impacting comfort levels through the weekend.

More updates are expected Thursday as the drier pattern takes hold.
