Binghamton, N.Y. – Temperatures across central New York will stay locked in an April-like chill today, with highs only in the 50s and low 60s for much of the region. Expect another dry day, though skies will remain mostly cloudy—especially east of I-81.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, highs Tuesday will be 10 to 15 degrees below normal for late May, ranging from 58°F in Utica and Cooperstown to around 64°F in Elmira and Binghamton. While areas along and east of I-81 will see persistent cloud cover, the Finger Lakes and western Southern Tier may catch brief sun breaks this afternoon.
Dry conditions are expected to continue through today, but rain is forecast to return Wednesday morning. Scattered showers could linger into the weekend, potentially impacting outdoor plans and holiday travel.
Drivers should stay alert for rapidly changing visibility in areas of low clouds and patchy fog early. With the air still cool, it’s a good day to limit outdoor activities or dress in layers.
Additional updates are expected early Wednesday as precipitation moves into the region and a more unsettled pattern develops through the weekend.
