Binghamton, NY – A cold snap is settling in across Central and Southern New York tonight, with temperatures falling into the 30s in some valleys and patchy frost possible by early Sunday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, lows tonight (Saturday into Sunday) will range from 37°F in Delhi and 38°F in Montrose to 39°F in Boonville, with the coldest air pooling in sheltered areas. The rest of the region will hover in the low to mid 40s, including Elmira (41°F), Cortland (41°F), and Binghamton (44°F). Syracuse and Auburn will stay milder, around 50°F.

Patchy fog is expected overnight, especially in valleys and near waterways. Drivers along Route 17, I-81, and rural roads should prepare for reduced visibility through early Sunday. Residents in the coldest pockets — especially in the Catskills and Twin Tiers — should take precautions to protect sensitive plants from frost.

This is the second chilly night in a row, and another cool evening is expected Sunday night, though frost risk will decrease slightly. Additional advisories could be issued if temperatures dip lower than expected.
