Buffalo, N.Y. – Memorial Day plans across western and central New York are looking up, as skies are expected to clear and temperatures warm into the upper 60s by Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, scattered showers will persist through Sunday evening before clearing overnight. Temperatures Sunday will remain cool, with afternoon highs between 55 and 60 degrees and lows dipping into the mid-40s.

Cities like Rochester, Batavia, and Niagara Falls may see spotty rainfall this afternoon, but drier air will move in late tonight. Memorial Day will be partly to mostly sunny, with just a slight chance of a passing shower east of Lake Ontario, especially in areas like Oswego and Watertown.

Travelers should watch for wet roads early Sunday but can expect improved driving conditions by Monday morning. If you’re planning outdoor activities, Monday offers a much better window—just keep an umbrella handy east of the lake.

This gradual warm-up marks a welcome shift after a soggy weekend. Another update is expected Monday morning if any new weather advisories are issued.
