BUFFALO, N.Y. – Western New York will enjoy a short stretch of crisp Fall sunshine before rain and wind return to close out the week. After a cloudy start, skies will clear Tuesday afternoon, bringing cool, calm weather through Thursday across the Buffalo metro.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, morning clouds will gradually lift with highs near 68°F Tuesday and light north winds. Skies stay partly cloudy overnight, then brighten fully by Wednesday as drier air filters in from the north. Highs midweek will hover near 56°F with lows dipping into the upper 30s — cool enough for a jacket on early commutes.

Residents in Erie and Niagara Counties can expect near-perfect conditions Wednesday and Thursday for outdoor activities, school sports, and leaf-peeping along Lake Erie and I-90. Winds remain light and visibility excellent through Thursday afternoon.

By Friday, however, the next system moves in from the Midwest, bringing scattered showers and increasing clouds. The National Weather Service expects a 50% chance of rain Friday evening, growing stronger overnight into Saturday. Temperatures will stay mild, but breezy south winds could make conditions damp and chilly along the lakefront.

Rain becomes more widespread over the weekend before tapering late Sunday. Until then, Buffalo’s midweek stretch provides an ideal window for outdoor errands, park visits, and final lawn work before the wetter pattern sets in.
