Albany, NY – A mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected to impact Upstate New York starting this evening and lasting through Thursday morning. Winter weather advisories have been issued for many northern and eastern regions, including the Adirondacks, where snow accumulations could reach up to 2 inches. The most significant ice accumulation is anticipated across the northern tier, with areas like Old Forge, Glens Falls, and Newcomb receiving between 0.01 to 0.25 inches.

According to the National Weather Service, snow showers are expected to develop across areas north of Interstate 90, while rain showers will affect areas south of this line. Sleet and freezing rain will cause slippery conditions, especially on untreated surfaces. By Wednesday night, gusty south winds will develop, heightening the risk of downed trees and power lines in areas like Syracuse and Herkimer.

Travelers are advised to use caution when navigating the roadways and to monitor conditions closely. The icy conditions could affect schools and commuters in Albany, Glens Falls, and other impacted cities, especially during the morning rush hours. With advisories in effect until Thursday morning, residents are encouraged to take necessary precautions to stay safe.
