New York, NY – A blast of frigid air is set to grip the region Monday night, with wind chills expected to drop to or below zero, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) New York.
NWS forecasts low temperatures in the teens across the New York City metro area, with single digits further inland. However, gusty winds will make conditions feel significantly colder. Wind chills as low as -5°F to -10°F are expected across the Hudson Valley, northern New Jersey, and parts of Connecticut, with some areas in upstate New York dipping even lower.
Officials advise residents to limit outdoor exposure and wear multiple layers if venturing outside. Exposed skin is at risk of frostbite in prolonged cold conditions. The cold snap is expected to persist into early Tuesday morning before temperatures gradually moderate.
