Buffalo, NY — A winter weather advisory remains in effect for much of western New York, with mixed precipitation expected to impact travel and cause potential power outages through 1 a.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, Oswego County could see 4 to 9 inches of snow and sleet, along with up to a quarter-inch of ice accumulation. Winds may gust as high as 50 mph, potentially downing tree branches and causing isolated outages.

Niagara and Orleans counties are forecasted to receive 3 to 6 inches of snow and sleet, with similar ice accumulations and gusts up to 45 mph. Meanwhile, Monroe, Erie, Genesee, and surrounding counties could see 3 to 6 inches of snow, two-tenths of an inch of ice, and 50 mph wind gusts.

Drivers should expect slippery roads, reduced visibility, and hazardous travel conditions. Officials urge slowing down and using caution when traveling. Residents are also advised to be careful on icy sidewalks, stairs, and driveways.

Power outages remain a concern, and residents should prepare by charging devices and having supplies on hand. Reports of snow and ice conditions can be submitted through the National Weather Service’s website and social media platforms.
