Watertown, NY – A late-season winter storm is set to blanket portions of Northern New York with several inches of snow beginning Tuesday evening, posing travel challenges across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, a Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 6 p.m. Tuesday until 2 p.m. Wednesday for Oswego, Jefferson, and Lewis counties. The Eastern Lake Ontario region could receive between 4 to 7 inches of snow, with wind gusts reaching up to 35 mph. The Tug Hill Plateau is expected to be hit hardest.

Snow accumulation is forecast to begin Tuesday night and continue steadily into Wednesday morning, likely affecting the early commute. The combination of snow-covered roads and reduced visibility may result in hazardous driving conditions, particularly across higher elevations.

Residents are advised to slow down, drive with caution, and allow extra time for morning travel. Local officials recommend preparing vehicles with emergency kits and checking travel updates frequently.

This advisory follows an unusually active April for snow in the region, where late-season storms are not unheard of but can still disrupt normal routines. Snow reports can be submitted via the National Weather Service website or social media platforms.
