Binghamton, NY – A stretch of wintry weather is set to impact Central and Upstate New York this week, starting with light snow Sunday and followed by a stronger system expected Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, most areas will see less than one inch of snow Sunday, though Northern Oneida County is under a Winter Weather Advisory where slightly higher totals are possible.
A more widespread snow event is forecast for Tuesday, December 2, with early model data showing a 40–50% chance of snowfall greater than three inches across much of Central New York, including Syracuse, Utica, and Albany. Probabilities drop to around 25–35% closer to the Southern Tier and western New York regions.
Forecasters caution that snowfall amounts remain uncertain, depending on the final track of the approaching low-pressure system. Regardless, most areas across the region are likely to see at least some accumulation by Tuesday evening, leading to potential travel disruptions.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts as the system develops early this week.
