Buffalo, NY – Rain chances are creeping back into western and north-central New York as a more traditional summertime pattern takes hold through Friday, with cooler air and showers expected, especially east of Lake Ontario.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, there’s a medium (40–60%) chance of showers near the New York-Pennsylvania border Wednesday, while other areas stay mostly sunny with highs between 80° and 87°. Overnight lows will range from 66° to 72°.

By Thursday, a cooler airmass will push in, bringing a 15–30% chance of showers south of Lake Ontario, and isolated thunderstorms across the Southern Tier. Highs dip slightly to the mid-70s to low 80s, with evening temperatures falling into the low 60s.

Friday brings the most widespread impact, with showers likely across much of the region and daytime highs in the mid-70s. Residents east of Lake Ontario will notice significantly cooler air. The Weather Prediction Center has issued a Marginal Risk of Excessive Rainfall for Thursday into Friday, especially in areas prone to runoff and flooding.

More rain could follow into the weekend, so residents are urged to stay weather-aware and check for updated advisories.
