Binghamton, New York – Another picture-perfect July day greets Upstate New York as cooler-than-normal temperatures and crisp sunshine continue across the region. But residents should savor the stretch of comfortable weather, as a much hotter and stormier pattern is set to return by Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, today’s highs will reach the upper 70s to low 80s, running several degrees below average for late July. Wednesday stays pleasant with mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower to mid 80s. However, a surge of heat and humidity is expected to sweep in by Thursday, pushing temperatures into the upper 80s and mid 90s from Syracuse to Scranton.
By Friday, conditions become unsettled. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly in the afternoon and evening, especially along I-81, Route 17, and across Broome, Onondaga, and Lackawanna counties. Local officials urge residents to plan outdoor activities early in the week and stay weather-aware as storms could bring brief heavy rain and lightning. Power outages and slick roads are possible during stormy periods.
To stay comfortable and safe, New Yorkers are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity during peak heat, and keep electronic devices charged in case of power interruptions.
Dry and pleasant weather is expected to continue until Thursday, with the next round of updates as the heat builds.
