Albany, NY – A mix of snow and rain will disrupt morning commutes across eastern New York on Monday as a spring storm system pushes through the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, light snow is expected to begin late Sunday night and continue into early Monday. Snowfall will transition to rain around mid-morning, particularly impacting travel along the I-90 corridor from Rensselaer through Albany. While snowfall totals are expected to remain under half an inch, slick spots could form on untreated roadways during the early hours.

Winds may gust up to 24 mph Monday morning, adding to the hazard for early drivers. Commuters should allow extra time and use caution, especially on bridges and overpasses where surfaces freeze faster. Temperatures will hover near 34°F at daybreak before warming to a high near 49°F by late afternoon.

This spring-like pattern continues through the week with partly sunny skies Tuesday and a high of 48°F. A weak system could bring scattered snow showers Wednesday morning with minimal accumulation. Temperatures then rise steadily, hitting 50°F by Thursday and into the mid-50s by Friday.

No hazardous weather is expected from Tuesday onward, but residents should remain alert to changing conditions. Weather spotters are encouraged to report snowfall totals to the National Weather Service via phone, email, or social media.

Prepare for a cold, wet start to the week before milder spring weather returns midweek across the Capital Region.
