Albany, New York – Rain mixing with sleet and snow this morning is setting the stage for slick roads later today, with snow showers expected to develop by late afternoon across eastern New York.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, temperatures hovering in the 30s will allow rain south of I-90 to briefly mix with sleet or snow early, before a transition to more widespread snow showers late in the day. The greatest impact is expected along and east of the Hudson River, including Albany, Pittsfield, and southern Vermont, where snow coverage increases into the evening.

Accumulations will remain limited due to marginal temperatures, with most areas seeing under 0.5 inches by early Tuesday morning. However, probabilities for at least a half inch climb to around 42% in Albany and exceed 50% in parts of western Massachusetts, including Pittsfield.

Drivers along I-90, I-87, and Route 7 should prepare for wet roads turning slick after sunset, especially on bridges and untreated surfaces. Visibility may briefly drop during heavier snow showers this evening.

Snow tapers off overnight, but colder air lingers into Tuesday morning. Additional updates are expected if snowfall rates increase or temperatures drop faster than expected.
